IT asset management software with a software-first focus

IT asset management (ITAM) covers everything an IT team is responsible for, from laptops to licenses. LicenseSphere 360 takes a software-first view: it knows which software you are entitled to, which endpoints report it installed, and which seats look idle.

What it covers, and what it does not

Hardware-centric ITAM tools track purchase, warranty, location and lifecycle of physical equipment. LicenseSphere 360 does not try to be that. It treats an endpoint as a managed unit, records the installed-software list the agent reports, and ties software licenses to the people and devices that hold them. If you need warranty or procurement tracking for hardware, pair it with a tool built for that, or use this alongside your existing asset register.

The endpoint agent

  • Runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and reports the installed-software list: name, version, publisher and install date.
  • Also reports hostname, operating system, architecture, agent version and a random machine ID created at enrollment, and optionally a user email.
  • Checks in hourly by default; an administrator can change the interval.
  • Uses a tenant-scoped key that is stored hashed and can be revoked at any time.
  • Does not collect process activity, launch or last-run times, executable paths, file contents, keystrokes, browsing activity or SaaS usage.

Asset records and counting

In pricing terms, a managed asset is one unique endpoint, however many software licenses it carries, and a managed user is one unique person by email, however many licenses they hold. A person and their device are counted separately. For example, 50 users and 30 endpoints are 80 managed units, which is $160 per month at $2 per managed unit. Plans are prepaid and you can see worked examples on the pricing page.

Who benefits

  • IT administrators who want to know what is installed across Windows, macOS and Linux endpoints without walking desks.
  • Procurement teams who need the current seat count before they negotiate a renewal.
  • Auditors who need an exportable record and a trail of who reclaimed which seat.

From inventory to decisions

Once software inventory and licenses sit side by side, practical questions get easier: which version of a tool is deployed, which devices still have software you are retiring, and which allocated seats are not backed by an install or a recent sign-in. Combine this with the directory sync for Google Workspace or Microsoft Entra and the 30 and 60-day renewal alerts. Read more on software asset management and software license management.

Frequently asked questions

Does it track hardware warranties or purchase records?

No. It focuses on software licenses, seats and installed-software inventory. An endpoint is recorded as a managed asset when it reports in.

Is the agent mandatory?

No. You can use LicenseSphere 360 for license and seat tracking without installing any agent. Install it only on devices you choose.

How do I deploy the agent?

An IT administrator creates a revocable agent key in the app and deploys the agent with MSI properties on Windows, an install.conf file with the macOS package, or the install script on Linux. Installers are published when built; see the product overview.
